Wrote and performed, Confessions of a Chocoholic, Downstage Theatre.

2004 Played Felicity in Up For Grabs, Downstage Theatre, conflated roles of both Capulets in the Downstage production of Romeo and Juliet and as Lizzie in her own work Mary’s Gospel at the Herald Theatre in Auckland

2003 Elizabeth in Auckland Theatre Company’s production of Roger Hall’s Middle Age Spread, toured with The World’s Wife, by Carol Ann Duffy. Previous theatre work includes the critically acclaimed Small God, Noises Off, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Arcadia and Molly Sweeney, all produced by Auckland Theatre Company.

Leah ,
with the New Zealand Actor’s Company for 2002 International Festival, Ricordi for the 1996 International Festival,Tzigane at Downstage Theatre, NZ tour of Farewell Speech. Geraldine spent ten years in the company at Court Theatre in Christchurch where she played many roles including, Medea, Shaw’s  St. Joan, Sonia from Uncle Vanya, Shakespeare’s Portia, Beatrice, and Gertrude, Stella in Streetcar, and Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa. She directed the Court’s production of Alan Bennetts’ Single Spies.

She performed and developed with Simon Bennett, the concept for Leah, the gender switching adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear for the Wellington Festival 2002

Geraldine Brophy has been writing plays since 2003.

The Viagra Monologues
her first work opened to critical acclaim in Auckland in July 2003 and a Wellington season at Bats Theatre 2008.

Mary’s Gospel
premiered at the Herald Theatre, Auckland in March 2004.

Confessions of a Chocoholic
played to a sell out season at it’s premiere in November 2004 and opened at Downstage Theatre Wellington in February 2005. It went on to tour nationally.

Real Estate
played to full houses late 2005 and featured in the Wellington Fringe festival in 2006.

The Paradise Package
premiered at the Fortune Theatre Dunedin in 2006.

Meat
,
about a celebrity chef and his autistic son, is yet to be produced.

The Merry Wives of Windsor Avenue
was commissioned by Downstage and Centrepoint Theatres 2008 and was produced in 2010 by Playbox Theatre Hamilton.

Her latest work is a collaboration with fifteen year old daughter Beatrice called Ladies A Plate and is a whimsical exploration of recipes and ritual passed down through families .This piece has  had three sell out  seasons in Petone Wellington, and featured in 2010 Cadbury festival Dunedin at The Mayfair Theatre.

Geraldine is a partner in THE BOX theatre which opened recently in Petone, Wellington which will show case her own work and other NZ theatre pieces in a 100 seat boutique setting.
Her new one woman show Mrs Merry’s Christmas Concert premiere’s there on 1 December 2010.
